Digital printing solutions now come in many guises, with new technologies and solutions appearing regularly. Among the latest colour digital printers on the Australian market  is the Intec CP2020 entry level solution, supplied by GrafikaLinks.

The Intec CP2020 is a full colour multi-media, heavy stock digital colour printing press. With a straight through in line CMYK printing path and what the company claims is the lowest capital cost and cost per copy in its class the CP2020 looks set to make a mark here in Australia.

Mike Malone, managing director of the supplier Grafika Links says, "It is aimed at printers who want a highly flexible digital print solution. It will print on everything from 55-512gsm stock, a huge range. It will also print on special stock such as magnets, and it will print envelopes."

Based on an Oki print engine, the Intec comes with a Harlequin rip for colour management, which Malone says provides consistent colour output and quality. He says, "The Intec will provide Australian printers with an ability to handle virtually everything that is thrown at it. The capability of the printer will prove a boon to printshop owners."

The Intec CP2020 will produce some 2000 prints an hour, and has a duplexer for double sided printing as standard. It will print onto stock as long as 1.2 metres. One rip will manage up to three CP2020 units, effectively trebling the output speed.

Applications include magnet printing, greetings cards, packaging, 3D printing, envelopes, labels, NCR sets, posters and banners. The Intec can also be used for t-shirt printing by printing onto a heat transfer material, which can then be applied to the t-shirt. It can also be used for printing CTP plates and imaging films.
